We think that historians and writers should be supported for their work and we would like to encourage fresh voices on the blog by compensating our guest authors for their work. This will bring many new perspectives and topics to Civil Discourse and support scholars for their expertise. Supporting us monetarily is completely optional--access to blog content will still be free. These funds will go towards paying the hosting fee for the blog website and for paying guest authors to write scholarship pieces and book/site reviews for the blog. We want to bring fresh scholarship to our readers and this will entice new authors to write for us. In addition, in a profession where many of us do a lot of work for free, it is important to us to support the work of historians as they share their research and expertise with us.
